Ms Wandwe has produced a policy brief under the title “Enhancing the implementation of Climate Smart Agriculture in Zambia: Addressing the barriers”. This focuses on outlining the impacts of climate change on the agricultural sector, unpacks the concept of climate smart agriculture as an adaptation strategy and what this means in the Zambian context. The policy brief also looks at the barriers of adopting CSA techniques by small scale farmers and how these can possibly be overcome. The contents of this policy brief will be shared with relevant ministries in Zambia and through a presentation to members of staff under the Agriculture and food sector program at GIZ, where she is currently working.

Here is a personal testimony of the impact the AfriCLP funding has had on Cynthia Mwandwe.

“Being a policy fellow under the AfriCLP program has been a wonderful learning experience for me. I have had great opportunities interacting and networking with different influential people working on climate related sectors in Zambia and abroad. I have been able to produce a policy brief under the title “Enhancing the implementation of Climate Smart Agriculture in Zambia: Addressing the Barriers”. The contents of this policy brief will be shared with relevant ministries in Zambia and through a presentation to members of staff under the Agriculture and food sector program at GIZ where I am currently working. With this experience, I was able to secure a position since February 2020 at the GIZ green innovation centers project as a climate change and agroforestry advisor working towards increasing small scale farmers resilience and adaptation to climate change using a value chain approach.

The long-lasting networks I have created at AFRCLP have been and will continue to be helpful in my career in climate change and enable me to be even more useful to my country.”
